XCOMUFO & Xenocide

A Few Questions

Recommended Posts

I finally got this game back after not playing it for 7-8 years. I have a few question after reading the forums. Keep in mind I have not read every topic but I'm trying.

Anyway, when attacking very large UFOs people have been recommending "stacking" interceptors or Firestorms. How does one do this? Can you launch 2 ships at once at the same target?

Can the sectoid leader be identified by something he is wearing or a particular ship type?

I've really just been trying to get the hang of this game again since its been a while.

Thanks

:stupid:

I got this...

When you see your target UFO... send both intercepters/whatever your using to kill ships with at the same time (set the time difference to 5 sec and hit the intercept button and select then to attack the same target).

When the first intercepter gets there... click the box in the upper left (i believe it is there) and the window will minimize and the game will continue with your plane following it. When you get your second intercepter within targeting range... click the numbered box and now you are ready to have them attack at the same time.

Lets see...

You can que multiple interceptors to attack a target. Just order two or more (up to 4) interceptors to attack the same target. Ex: UFO 1.

Then, when the first interceptor arrives, you will notice an icon in one of the corners of the interception window (should look like a square.) this is the 'follow target' command, and it moves you back to the geoscape. You will notice an little box with a picture of a plane and a 1 in it up in the corner of the screen. Click it to go back to intercepting with that craft. Or wait until your other craft have arrived, then order them to aggressive and fire at will!

Sectoid leaders can be identified by their psi abilities and greater stats. Their model is the same as the normal sectoid, however. Leaders of any type are found at terror sites, onboard medium sized ships and up, and bases. (Also found on small ships, depending on mission. Especially when they are scouting for a terror site location.)

Finding a sectoid leader in early game is important, that's why you need mind probe. Every time you go to terror site or medium or larger ufo, take few mind probes with you. Then mind probe every sectoid before killing them and you'll find him.

For the Large supply ships(two big bubbles, 3 floors) the Sectoid leader(s) is always on the 3rd floor, near the command room (upper left). Dash in, capture the leader, and dash out. Or you could simply finish the mission, supply ships are easy, and give big rewards. :) As a plus, getting rid of the sectoid leader will stop PSI attacks on your units.

In terror ships, the leader is once again in the command room. Go to the second floor, in the bottom left room, and stun those aliens. You'll have to fight through, so be careful.

On battleships, there are alot of leaders and a commander or two. The leader(s) is usually in the upper right room on the third floor, or around there. The commanders are in the lower left room, sometimes with a leader or two. These guys have big guns, and sometimes kill themselves (with you, as well), so be careful. You can dash through just to capture the leader, but prepare for ambushes as you use the lift.

I haven't confirmed it for medium UFOs, but the leader should be in the upper command room of the abductor, and the command room of the harvester (farthest away from the enterance). These can be tough, because you have to fight all the way through, and can't simply dash for the leaders.

Don't count on being able to find and capture high ranking aliens at terror sites. They're simply too random. There are better places to get the aliens that you need.

I guess you kinda figured it out. The higher ranking aliens (and medics) are usually in the command room of a UFO. Since those rooms are usually tightly packed, throw in a few stun bombs, and reap the rewards of a dozen captured alien officers. :wink:

PS: Be sure to have fun! X-COM is a great game. :D

Ya I totally forgot about mind probes.

Another question do you have to research MP before you can use them? Since I was just starting I did what I feel is sort of an odd tech tree.

Laser weapons ---> to rifles

alien Alloys ---> Personal Armor

Heavey Plasma

Power source ---> P. Armor

Navigation ---> Currently working on UFO Construction

I haven't been convinced of the power of the medkits because the aliens either miss or my power armor takes it...or I die. I never really load the game but I do save before every crash site because I have been kicked out right before I start the mission.

Anyway I appreciate the help and this site is really great. I hope to hang around here for a long time.

That's the beauty of Etherials; ANY will do.

Nice trick for snagging commanders; let them come to you. Depending on the race base invasions have commanders in then as a base invasion crew is the same as a battleship crew. Not all the races have all class of aliens. Consult may game notes as to which race has what.

If stewart alone got 6824 posts which is like saying he got no life :naughty:

If he has more then one account he is inhuman. No MAN has that much to talk about :sly:

Which raises a different question ... :huh?: :wub:

The post-count casino.

You see, back in the golden days of Xcomufo.com (well, not really) Old man Stewart ran a casino where you betted your posts. However, one of the hidden clauses was that he got to take your soul. Those who never played at the casino got +1,000,000 posts and a custom title. However, Stew eventually closed the casino, abolished the titles, and reset everyone back to their normal post count.

Also, if you called him Iblis (short for Iblis, or rather, his true name) he busted you down by a million posts.

Old man Stewart managed to ensnare quite a few souls before the casino shut its doors. Now the ruined casino is just a decaying building, where Junkies and runaways go to find shelter.

It probably won't be revieved since it got a lot of negative feedback. I was one of the players but never had to loan posts in exchange for my soul, thank God!

:boohoo:

Huh? :huh?: Do you mean I-B-B-Y?

:o I just signed my toe tag, didn't I? It was the Corporal, he made me do it! He said he'd eat my soul, or something of equal value if I didn't. :crying:
