So how about when your new rookie scout guy gets MCed? I usually shoot the guy... does it count to my stat gaining activities? He IS an alien... the alien spotted number pops up! Either way I'll still kill the rookie so don't worry about him. -
like around 5500 for me... but I like to shoot down UFOs into the water to make TFTD a bit more believeable. Plus why waste time/rookies going after a UFO thats been blown sky high?

You're correct NKF. Unfortunetly I haven't been able to replicate the bug. I was doing nothing out of the ordinary during the game, nor was I using anything other then Xcomutil to fix the difficulty bug.

Just started yet another super human game. I managed to get my 2nd base in america up and running with it's own intercepter and a gang of defenders to ward off attacks. How I had it setup was a hanger in the top right... attached only (and this is important) by the access lift. so the hanger was here empty space access lift empty space living quarters storage blah blah blah down below However when the first base defense came up Hanger living quarters access lift storage all the rest of the buildings down here As though I had built the living quarters and storage attached to the hanger. Needless to say without the chokepoint I gleefully make into a killing zone my gang of defenders were over run. Was this just some bug?

Base defense? Rockets and proxy grenades. That is... if you setup your base in the optimal way.

PA is good for explosives (mentioned already) and preventing FF from human projectile weapons. Yeah by the time you get PA you don't have projectile weapons anymore... but it doesn't mean that PA doesn't prevent it! -
probubly to avoid chain panicing. I mean, if you had 0 morale... how would you get it back since your guy would be panicing every turn.

i play in long amounts of time when i do get around to playing... but these days between school and WoW I don't have much Xcom time :-P

In the long run You'll want to let them in... the stupid "fire... hit... fire miss..." screen takes FOREVER in comparison to everything else in game. Gets annoying after the first half a month of playing. -
If they wake up later in the mission they are hostile and must be shot to finish the mission... resulting in a "xcom killed civilian" penelty.

Awwww come on... Like you haven't ONCE thought of it. How about that time you went inside to make sure that civilian's house was alien free... and found the owner at the door, preventing you from leaving?

Thwarting Alien Missions

I'll comment on bases being built seemingly by ghost aliens... I've played around with a savegame i had and I've determined that the only way bases like these pop up is if a alien ship comes into the atmosphere and straight down (no flying around to look for a better spot) and lands under the radar... builds the base then takes off... looking seemingly like a ship going TO build a base (when it actually already has). If its not that... then i don't know... majik built them. -

You should have Heavy plasma at the end of the first month... at the very least laser rifles/alien grenades. Those don't have much trouble downing cyberdisks. -
I find the selfdestruct on the cyber disks more harmful to aliens then it is to my Troops. I nearly always am able to down a cyberdisk (that is if its not the first mission XD ) before it moves very far from it's comerades.
