Have you checked under the bed?

Wow, I didn't think I'd get a reply the same day. I assumed traffic on this forum had now been reduced to one visitor per week or somesuch.

Is there any data online about how many aliens can be found (minimum/maximum/average) on all the various types of missions and ships? I've looked and looked but haven't found anything. Also, do the experts know how the game decides which type of crew to send on any given mission? I remember in most games I played I fought aquatoids for only a month or so, then gill men for anything in between 1 and 4 months and then endless lobsters. Rarely the game would switch to tasoth, or revert back to aquatoids. In the current game I'm playing for a let's play on youtube, it's as if the game jumped to the next race almost every month. I fought gill men for quite some time, then maybe 1 month of lobsters, one of tasoth and now back to aquatoids. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed now the aquatoids will do a terror mission, for calcinites and drills )

I have the collector's edition, with all three real x-coms inside, plus interceptor and email x-com. I am playing apocalypse again at the moment. I finally got both interceptor and apocalypse working as smooth as can be with no fuss at all, using virtual pc with windows 98 on it I have no clue how much I paid for that collector's edition. It was kinda old already, so I'm guessing it must've been slightly cheaper than the average new game. 2000 belgian francs or so (+/- 40$)

Artifact Site - Level 2 Can You Kill All Aliens?
Yoni replied to Chancellor Kremlin's topic in Xcom 2: General
Most common problem for me when trying to find the last alien in an artefact site, was the hallucinoid hiding under the elevator in the central room (the elevator that leads up two floors to the room with the synomium device). -
In my games there's never a single tasoth mission where they don't panic. Sometimes they may panick out of your vision, so you don't get a notice. But when you find them later on, you see they dropped their weapon. Maybe you tend to play on superhuman? In the early days I always played on the easiest setting. Then I switched to veteran games. But in both instances, they frequently panick, while with the other aliens, its a very rare occurence. A few aquatoids may panick near the end of a colony mission (phase 1)... Occasionally one gill man will panick in a dreadnought after I killed all the rest.

Wow, I don't think I've ever had a game last into the second year. I'm at the point where I can do T'leth now, but I'm just delaying it. I'm playing some more missions, letting the aliens build some colonies. I'm sort of waiting for mixed crews to show up so I can get a calcinite for the hand to hand weapons. I've equiped only two soldiers with mc disruptors but even that makes it quite easy.

After trying a few times, reinstalling the editor, installing the microsoft .net thingie, then the other version of that thingie the map editor still won't cooperate. When I try to start it, I get yon standard windows error report "...has encountered a problem and needs to close. Do you wish to send a report?" The report of course contains only (to me) gibberish. I've used the program on this pc in the past. On windows xp. I've read online that it's probably due to service pack 2. But I was under the impression others got it to work with the microsoft .net thingie. Or am I wrong?

In the game I'm currently playing, I reached the point where I can go to T'leth and thought "meh, what's the point?" First I skipped all the ships that last month, while doing the whole research chain of the lobster men commanders, up to "T'leth". Then I just quit the game. It's kind of a no brainer and a boring mission either way. Up to what point does everyone else keep playing the game? When do you consider yourself to be victorious?

I've had this happen to me as well in a previous game (also with transtellar). My guess is, that in your current game, transtellar must be slightly to very friendly towards the aliens. So whenever you're shooting ufo's and killing aliens, Transtellar becomes unfriendly towards you. You could use the midnight editor to set hostility levels between transtellar and the aliens back to normal.

I never hacked anything into my bases stores, but I'm absolutely sure of these two things: -I end up with a type of alien "room" in my stores that I can sell for money, has a proper name, yet it never shows up for research. -I've definitely seen the bottom object from the wikipedia in alien colonies. The others seem familiar too but I'm not sure of them. I checked upon one of my savegames far in the game and this is the object: Alien re-animation zone. It sells for a lousy 100$ and never shows up for research. (I have the collector's edition if it matters)

I know there was one type of alien room that you could capture and sell, but never research. It's probably this one. It's possible games gurus were able to hack the ufopedia entry out of the game.

New "gamemode" Idea - Player-forced Bankrupcy
Yoni replied to Sorrow's topic in Xcom 3: Strategy/Tactics
Here in Belgium economics work so that every year the value of money drops with about 2 %. (Something of that magnitude). It's an artificially created inflation, so that money keeps slightly dropping in value and people are more stimulated to spend their money rather than hoard it for interest. Thus stimulating the economy. (I think it's robbery) I don't know how it's done in the rest of the world. I assumed it was common practice everywhere. And yes I'm familiar with the great depression. Either way, my answer wasn't intended as THE answer. Just as a possibility, slightly in jest. Personnaly, I believe, I KNOW that the makers of the game never ever considered any such things. None of the designers ever gave item prices that much thought. They just slapped on prices which were balanced compared to each other. -

I HAD the same problem when I installed x-com 3 again a month or so ago. I can't remember what happened to fix it in the end. I already had the latest drivers for my graphics card (NVIDEA). I already had two files that were to fix the svga problem. I checked the forum and downloaded the svga fix files again. Aside from that, I can only remember tampering with the files and settings. I know one thing for sure: When I finally got it to work properly, I suddenly didn't have any music in the game any more. I still have sound but no music.
