  1. Yes, it's been very quiet lately. As for finding people to play, you can try facebook group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=149809565046202
  2. Hi, from https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/1103978921643...sts/QJMA9grE1UM Is there really some kind of problem or forum misconfiguration for new users?
  3. OK, thanks. Just let me know if you need help or when the updated translation is ready to be used in the game.
  4. I mean there seem to be at least two barriers for the new users. One of them is the need for a facebook account to even have a look what is this group about. If somebody does not have a facebook account yet, then it's full stop. Why would anybody want to bother registering an account for a pig in a poke? The second barrier is the need for approval to join and participate in the group activities. It looks to me more like a closed ufo2000 elite club with just a few members after the first glance
  5. Such special characters should be left intact. They are substituted by other strings or numbers when showing the message. Actually the game checks the validity of message templates and will not load the corrupted translation strings. The error messages about bad translations will be reported in a log file. This is probably indeed done for better text placement and alignment. It should be quite harmless to change the number of spaces. In the worst case it will just look a bit ugly in the game.
  6. Thanks! Can you give an example? Yes, it should be possible to download the current translation from transifex https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/ufo200...wnload/for_use/ and use it to replace "translations/ufo2000-est.po" file in the ufo2000 directory.
  7. Seems to be not accessible without having a facebook account. Is this on purpose?
  8. I have also created a google+ page for ufo2000, let's see if it turns out to be useful or not
  9. ufo2000 beta 0.9.1176 is available: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net Now the default server configuration has been finally changed to ufo2000.net:2000, which should enormously increase the chances for the new users to successfully connect the game server. All the libraries are updated to the recent versions for the windows build, which should make the game more compatible with modern versions of windows. Also some bugs got fixed.
  10. You will be surely missed here, but real life is more important. Without any flattering, you have been the driving force behind all the latest ufo2000 fixes and improvements by submitting patches, providing bugreports and helping people in the forums. Good luck and welcome back any time.
  11. http://sopastrike.com/ This SOPA thing is a real threat to UFO2000, especially considering the possibility to use the original X-COM data files. We avoid including any proprietary copyrighted stuff with the game and leave it up to the user to find the original copy of X-COM if he wants to (and there are legal ways to obtain it). But the problem with SOPA/PIPA is that it would give too much power to those guys and they might be trigger happy to shut us down on a mere suspicion or misunderstanding. Sorry for not providing a prior notice about participating in this strike. Maybe it was crazy, but somehow it seemed to me that such unexpected shutdown would feel like a bit more real demonstration of what can be expected in the future if such acts pass.
  12. There is help button in the login dialog which has some explanation. You can pick any username and password as you like, but it's better not to use any valuable password for security reasons. Just be sure that the server address is set to 'ufo2000.net'. Server statistics pages are at: http://ufo2000.net:2000/ and http://ufo2000.net/results.html There is a tutorial video here: Though I'm not totally happy about it and did not take any part in its creation myself. Because this video uses the graphics resources from X-COM (which are copyrighted by the original x-com creators) and it's a bad idea to use them in any 'official' ufo2000 promotional materials. The latest version can be downloaded at http://ufo2000.net More recent snapshots are available at http://ufo2000.net/autobuilds
  13. Now ufo2000 win32 beta binary/installer gets built automatically whenever anything gets committed to SVN repository: http://ufo2000.net/autobuilds/ This should make testing easier.
  14. Sorry for the late reply. That's a rather large class of problems with similar symptoms: http://ufo2000.net/mantisbt/view.php?id=250 This looks like a reproducible one, which can be addressed first: http://ufo2000.net/mantisbt/view.php?id=635
  15. OK, thanks. Transifex shows that the translation is 98% finished. Are only some messages missing or the already translated ones need to be verified/updated too? PS. I have finally found how to delete that other duplicate "Estonian (Estonia) (et_EE)" team from transifex, so now we just have "Estonian (et)".
