  1. Well that sucks.........nice game glitch. But It does seem the game is full of em........for instance (I don't know how this happened) I created a few new bases and one base general stores became full. So I transfered some stingray and avalanche launchers to another base (standard issue amount), when that base became full I had a clear out and for some reason the launchers were in minus figures again? When I went to sell them it turned out I had over 6000 of each in the stores . It took me about 5 Mins sell sell the lot..............so I guess I can't complain too much about losing a few Engineers when I made about $160,000,000 from the sales . I was just concerned in case it would happen every time I bought some more. Thanks for keeping me informed NKF
  2. Hello all, Looking for some help with a game malfunction, here are a few stats of my base: Living Quarters = 300 Engineers = 240 Soldiers = 10 Engineers on order = 50 So my base should be able to accommodate the additional 50 Engineers right. When they arrive, here's how things now look: Living Quarters = 44 Engineers = -206:34 So why when the engineers finally arrive do my stats get all mixed up? What's going on .
  3. Dan..Dan..Daaaaahh!!! I'm one happy camper! I reinstalled V1.01 into the new folder "C:\Games\XCOM" & Hey Presto - clicked play and it worked first time!..............WooHoo! Maybe for some reason the directory it chooses for you isn't compatible in some way? I don't know, but all I do know is that it worked first time in your new suggested folder. Maybe this'll help others in the future. Thanks for putting up with me starwindz777, I really really do appreciate all you've done for me . Cheers Bud .
  4. Ok So I've done steps 1 - 3. I tried to extract the p.zip folder in C:\Program Files\X-COM-Total Pack\launcher folder and a message came up "a folder already exists with that name (launcher_p), do you want to replace it" I clicked yes and I got access denied? So I renamed the original folder - launcher_p1 and tried to extract it again and got access denied? I don't know bud? Sorry to be such a pain but at least once you've solved this one no-one else should be bothering you about it (for Vista anyway ).
  5. Hi starwindz777 and thanks for the swift reply, I've installed the V1.03 and I run into the same problem "file access denied". Although it happens differently to the last version and only One "file access denied" screen instead of Two this time? The Total Pack screen comes up, press play and file access denied? The last time it was Two instant error messages before the Total Pack screen? Am I doing something wrong? should I uninstall both programs and try again? It all seems simple and straight forward enough I just don't see where I'm going wrong ? I'm running Vista 32-Bit Home Premium if that's any help? Thanks.
  6. Are you using Windows Vista? Current version has some problem on Vista. I will fix it soon. Ah I see, yeah I'm using Vista (should've seen this coming really ) Please keep me updated if you get it running compatible with Vista. Thanks for the reply bud
  7. starwindz777 you got any advice for me please? I've downloaded and installed your X-COM 1 & 2 - Total Pack, I click on the desktop icon and get the error message: File Access Denied (on Two separate screens) I don't know where I've gone wrong but I'm desperate to play this game. I've looked at the properties of the file to see if any of them are "read only" and there's a blue icon where a tick should be (or not be in my case)? there seems to be Three things I can do here: leave it Blue, White or tick it. Then press apply and no matter what I save it with it always ends up Blue? I thought it could only be White or ticked? (Although I really don't think that this is the main problem here). With downloading this Total Pack, should it literally be a case of: install the downloaded file and then click on the desktop icon to play? or do I still have to install DosBox and do some editing? Any help here people? Please.
  8. You've probably already tried this, but click inside the DosBox with your mouse pointer. After that press ALT-ENTER which should maximize the screen. Don't know what version of DosBox you have but both v0.63 and 0.65 have this feature. In the case of starwindz777's total pack, an "Access Denied" message indicates to me that one of the files is write protected. Right click on each of the icons, go to properties --> General tab and make sure the "Read-Only" and "Hidden" boxes are not checked. Then try again. Hope this helps. - Zombie Hi Zombie, No I didn't know about the ALT-ENTER option.........but I do now . Now though I want to get starwindz version working as it seems to be less hassle. There's something very odd going on, I've tried to uncheck the "read only" that are checked in some of the XCOM total pack program folders, click apply and all seems well. Try to start the game and the same error comes up, so I had a look back at the folders and they're all checked again?? I've tried a few times to uncheck and apply the changes and they always revert back? What's going on.........I don't think someone wants me to play this game . I've got the DosBox version to work (some what) but how do I restart the game? I mount the game but I just go into the install procedure again? What do I need to type in order just start playing again? I made a note of what it told me to start it again (or so I thought) it stated type: c: cd:/mps/ufo ufo But it comes up with an illegal command? I've edited the dosbox.conf file so it looks like this: [autoexec] # Lines in this section will be run at startup. mount c c:\oldgames C: cd:\MPS\UFO UFO But then I open DosBox again and nitto - it's back to the original setup? *UPDATE ON THE UNCHECKING* I'm not sure if they are checked? when I click on the general tab - the little box is Blue, I click it and it goes White, I click it again then there's a tick symbol in the box? what is the Blue square all about if the tick symbol is there because they all have the Blue box? Aaaargh..............something so brilliant shouldn't be so hard to start playing. *UPDATE No 2* I've had a reply from starwindz777 and apparently the program has issues running in Vista, so I'll just have to bide me time........................Ah well .
  9. Unfortunately Dosbox can only be run at a set screen size and can't be maximized, I tried the compatibility option with no luck. I've just installed starwindz777's total pack (which looks a lot easier to run) but when I press play an error appears: File Access Denied? It's annoying..............I'm so close Anything I can do to solve this new problem? Thanks.
  10. That's a better way of explaining it! cheers Zombie . Any ideas about sorting out screen size? or is that something I have to adjust via my monitor? think I'll post it up and see if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks.
  11. Hello all, Is there a development guide/strategy link anywhere on this site? I used to have my own but since this is the first time I'll be playing this game in about 10 years obviously I don't have it any more. It's basically a guide where if you were to recover say a dead Sectoid and you then get your scientists to work on the corpse and you then get other things to research and then develop from that (better weapons n such). Then if you caught a live Sectoid you get more info and things to research and so on and so on. The same goes for building parts of your base, if you build one thing first then you can have access to building other things. I hope you get my jist..........oh well off to work now. Cheers.
  12. Well that's sorted now Cheers Zombie. For some reason HDINST.BAT file didn't extract from the disc with all the rest, but it was there anyway. Now I need to sort out the screen size as it's only about 8 inches across? could someone give me a link to sort this problem out please. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the reply . I did try ufo.bat as it stated ( I probably should've mentioned that) even though I couldn't find this file, but it responded with..............Illegal command: ufo.bat Anything else I can do?
  14. Sorry I forgot to add the link, I wanted to get the message done quickly before I went to work. Anyway the link is here: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?...b739beb52957737 It's taken from this thread: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2989 And yes indeed the Vogons are from The Hitchhikers............but don't let them recite poetry though.
  15. Hello all, New here after I have just found this fantastic long lost game . I've just started to try and install the Enemy Unknown game using the method from Firestorm225's link on Vogons. The problem I have is the line where he types in the exe file (TDCGA.EXE ) what exe do I type in as there doesn't seem to be one relating to Enemy Unknown? Could someone please point me in the right direction. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.
