  1. There's also the option menu in the battlescape. U can adjust scrolling speed.
  2. max, I deleted both installs of xcom et. I'll try reinstalling it sometimes this weekend and quickly running it to the point where it crashes. I'll then pass on the saved game to u. The latest vers of et was used. It's the only one I have left, all others were deleted. thanks for help.
  3. On 2 separate installs of xcom et, the game crashes at exactly the same spot. As soon as I receive my extra scientists/soldiers the game crashes as i switch to the 5sec setting... Any ideas?
  4. Got xcom as a xmas pressy back in 1993/94 (it ran on a 386/40mhz). I asked for it after reading a review of it in CGW. From memory it had to be ordered, it wasn't the sort of game people could pick up from the shelves. Beside CIV it was the only game where i lost track of time and found myself playing "just one more mission" at 3am... All that I specifically remember was being very good at blowing my men up with grenade throws gone wrong...
  5. CE, cos the difficulty bug is fixed...
  6. Remove psi abilities from humans... Not the Aliens.
  7. The problem with xcomutil is that the game crashes in the battlescape. It happens in both dos (out of the box and patched to 1.4) and ce vers. It happens on both my pcs. The only similarities between both system is that they both run winXP. I found these forum trying to get ufo to run under winXP. It turned out a xcomutil free install of ce worked flawlessly.
  8. Just curious as to what modifications players make to Xcom to make it more enjoyable to them. Personally I would like additional terrains (not replacements) or preferably a geoscape reskinned to include more of the terrain less used on the existing geoscape (ie more mountains and jungles). Unfortunately I don't think such a mod exist... I would like urban terrain to be available in non terror site missions. Imagine a geoscape where much of Europe consists of urban terrain rather than being farmland... Yep I don't want to fight 90% of my missions on farmlands... Before Someone brings up Xcomutil, I have to point out that it doesn't work on my pc... I think most mappacks out there need it to function. If there's a particularly good mappack that u know of and doesn't require xcomutil, then bringing it to my attention would be most welcome:)
  9. I was always under the impression that doing research in a well paying country was beneficial because the research points add to your score in that country. Thus I always placed my first base in US (also covering Canada). My next 2 bases are in Asia and Europe. Initially radar posts, then interception, then fully fledged all rounders. My research is usually carried out at one base, but redundancy is built into other bases. Each fully fledged bases has some manufacturing capability for personal armour and the like, but one base has a high manufacturing capability to build ships. More bases are located in Southern hemisphere: South America, Africa, Australia (usually interception only but guarrisoned all the same). Then there's a storage base when stuff begins to pile up. And one final strike base.
  10. 3 is indeed right. I still have the original disks:) It was a xmas pressy back in early 90's...
