Tried this out and turned the volume as high as it can go, still nothing. But just last night I found that the star on the numpad toggles the music on and off, however everytime I hit it I only got the message "music off". I suppose I could be wrong and theres another key that toggles music on, but it doesn't explain why I have no sound effects.... Unless theres a key that toggles the sound effects on?

First off, amazing job on the 'X-com multiplayer'. Was wondering when someone was gonna make X-com able to play with others online . Anyways, after a few games with a friend I've noticed that I get no sound(which I thought was intentional becuase there might've been compatibility issues for so many people with different computers and such). I didn't mind so much until I decided to play some music while I played these silent games. So opened winamp and continued to play when I noticed that even the music wasn't running anymore. So after these games I checked out the Demo which I downloaded with the Installation file thinking MAYBE I could change the audio setup and that the demo wasn't detecting the speakers. But when tried opening any of the .exe files i get the message "The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications"(I have Windows XP by the way ).... So no luck here. I'm out of ideas(even though I only had one diea in the first place), I thought perhaps somebody from here can help me out. Is there a file missing? If so, should I re-install? Do I have to download a patch or update to fix this? Thanks in advance! Edit: Almost forgot to mention I got ufo2000-0.6.627 if it makes any difference.

Sorry to ressurect such an old topic, but i thought it would be better to post in an old topic rather then start a new thread... Anyway, I'm having similar problems where I can't hear music, plasma sounds, footsteps, psionic attacks and the only death screams I can hear are that of the aliens. I've tried the suggestions listed above but still... no luck. Thanks in advance.
