At the very least IMHO :

Seriously.
That is, I almost never play the games anymore. My experiment can span a few minutes, to several hours depending on the complexity of the set-up phase and the testing phase.
When I do sit down and play, it's generally 30mins to an hour. And even then, it's usually my solo floater base assault savegame or my 'play from scratch' campaign.
Back when I was a starry eyed new player and first got TFTD, I think I and a friend played one game from evening until dawn.
I really couldn't say I played it too much back then, since I was a bit of a Doom freak at the time and found my constant failure in X-Com to be a bit off putting. But once I got the hang of it, I think Doom got shelfed and I was playing 3 - 5 hours X-Com a session. Not necessarily every day, as I had to test my feet in other games as well.
Overall though, 'it depends' would have to be my answer.

Over this last Xmas break, being away from work for days on end, I was able to start at noon and then look up to realize it was midnight. I can easily play for 12 hours a session if the world leaves me alone... and since I'm not hindered by children, it's not too hard for me to get uninterupted blocks of time when on vacation. Stock up with drinks and snacks near the comp desk and go!
Lately it's been marathons of NWN in the same manner.

Though I haven't played X-Com since I stopped my boring little TFTD stories and am currently playing Master of Magic, Star Wars: Battlefront, and Unreal Tournament 2004 (I played Halo for a little bit)
Being an older kid in a neighborhood with 1st and 2nd graders everywhere leaves me a lot of time on Saturdays and I would sit down at 9:00 am in my room with door locked and emerge at 2am to get food and a drink. Only other times I go out is to use that bathroom.

My conscience is clear, therefore I am guilty of having a bad memory.
